T7 Simulation: Adjustment of TLS encryption requirements for ETI LF sessions

Release date: 17 Jul 2024

026/2024 T7 Simulation: Adjustment of TLS encryption requirements for ETI LF sessions Xetra Circular 026/24

1.    Introduction

The use of the TLS connectivity option (payload encryption) for ETI LF sessions originating from locations outside of Deutsche Börse’s Equinix FR2 facility is currently a mandatory requirement in both the T7 simulation and T7 production environments.

However, in the event of a disaster recovery scenario, the use of payload encryption for ETI LF sessions originating from locations outside Deutsche Börse’s Equinix FR2 facility is optional.

To enable participants to prepare for a potential disaster recovery scenario and to test the connectivity of ETI LF sessions without payload encryption, Deutsche Börse will offer both TLS and non-TLS connectivity options in the T7 simulation environment from 19 July 2024 onwards.

2.    Required action

No specific action is required. Participants who do not intend to use payload encryption for ETI LF sessions originating from locations outside of Deutsche Börse’s Equinix FR2 facility in the event of a disaster recovery scenario can test the non-TLS connectivity option in the T7 simulation environment.

3.    Details

The parallel usage of the TLS and non-TLS connectivity options will be available in the T7 simulation environment from 19 July 2024 onwards. The requirement for password encryption is unaffected by this change and will remain mandatory in both a disaster recovery scenario and in the T7 simulation environment if payload encryption is not used.
