Eurex
1. Introduction
As originally announced as part of the T7 Release 9.0 introduction, Eurex will now begin to introduce the new FIX LF interface and associated FIX LF sessions.
The new FIX LF interface will make use of the FIX 4.4 protocol only and be integrated closer into the T7 architecture by providing similar underlying infrastructure and functional/technical characteristics as the existing ETI interface, e.g. backward compatibility. The new FIX LF interface will initially be offered in parallel to the existing FIX Gateway interface and will, after individual transition periods, ultimately replace the existing FIX Gateway interface.
Please note that the decommissioning of support for the existing back office and trading sessions via the existing FIX Gateway interface will occur independently from one another.
Start of simulation (Back office session): 17 February 2021
Start of production (Back office session): 29 March 2021
2. Action required
No immediate action from participants is required; however, participants with back office sessions via the existing Eurex FIX Gateway interface should be aware that support for these sessions will no longer be provided with T7 Release 10.0. Existing applications must be adapted to use the new FIX LF interface at the earliest possible opportunity. Participants using FIX version 4.2 must also ensure that their applications are adapted to FIX version 4.4.
3. Details
A. Implementation and decommissioning roadmap
The introduction of the new FIX LF interface with the appropriate sessions will take place in two steps.
In the first step, Eurex will introduce the new T7 FIX LF interface for back office sessions in both the simulation and production environments in Q1/2021. The introduction of the T7 FIX LF interface for trading sessions will take place together with the introduction of T7 Release 10.0, which is planned to be introduced in Q3/2021 (simulation) and Q4/2021 (production).
The following table provides an overview of the individual migration steps for the introduction of the new FIX LF interface and decommissioning of the existing FIX Gateway interface.
Migration step | Environment | T7 Release | Session type | Date |
FIX LF interface | Simulation | 9.0 | Back office | 17.02.2021 |
FIX LF interface | Production | 9.0 | Back office | 29.03.2021 |
FIX LF interface | Cloud Simulation | 9.1 | Back office | 01.04.2021 |
FIX LF interface | Simulation | 9.1 | Back office | 03.05.2021 |
FIX LF interface | Production | 9.1 | Back office | 28.06.2021 |
FIX Gateway (decommissioning) | Simulation and Production | 9.1 | Back office | 31.08.2021 |
FIX LF interface | Cloud Simulation | 10.0 | Trading | Q3/2021 |
FIX LF interface | Simulation | 10.0 | Trading | Q3/2021 |
FIX LF interface | Production | 10.0 | Trading | Q4/2021 |
FIX Gateway (decommissioning) | Simulation and Production | t.b.a. | Trading | Q2/2022 |
Important note: The initial launch of the FIX LF interface will be performed as part of the current T7 Release 9.0 software. No changes to the T7 Release 9.0 FIX LF interface implementation of back office sessions neither in the form of documentation nor XML files are envisaged during the T7 Release 9.1 implementation.
B. Documentation
To coincide with the availability of the FIX LF interface in the T7 Release 9.0 simulation environment, the respective T7 FIX LF interface message reference will be provided from 15 February 2021 on the Eurex website www.eurex.com under the link:
Support > Initiatives & Releases > T7 Release 9.0
For the new FIX LF interface, all artefacts (repository and message reference) will be provided on a market place type basis, e.g. Cash or Derivatives.
C. Sessions
Like the existing Eurex FIX Gateway interface, the new Eurex FIX LF interface also supports two session types, trading and back office FIX sessions. To use the FIX LF interface, trading participants will be required to order new FIX LF sessions. The use of existing FIX sessions with the new FIX LF interface will not be possible.
The pricing for the new FIX LF sessions will remain unchanged:
During the migration phases of the FIX LF interface (planned for back office sessions up to the end of August 2021 and for trading sessions up to the end of June 2022), no fees will be charged for redundantly set up sessions of the respective type.
Please note that cross-market sessions will no longer be supported by the FIX LF interface, therefore if a participant requires FIX LF sessions for different exchanges, e.g. Eurex or EEX, then separate sessions for each market are needed to be ordered.
Ordering of the FIX LF back office sessions for the simulation and production environment will be possible via the “Requests & Configuration” option in the “Technical Connection” section of the Eurex Member Section from 15 February 2021 onwards. Participants will be informed separately once the ordering of trading sessions for both the T7 Release 10.0 simulation and production environments is possible.
D. Infrastructure
The new FIX LF interface will share some of the existing ETI Low Frequency gateways. Unlike the existing FIX Gateway interface implementation, all back office and trading sessions will use the same port. The following table provides an overview of the ETI gateways which will be used for the FIX LF interface:
Gateway | Environment | IP Address | Port | Side |
L01 | Simulation | 193.29.89.65 | 19524 | B |
L02 | Simulation | 193.29.89.97 | 19524 | A |
L01 | Production | 193.29.91.97 | 19024 | B |
L02 | Production | 193.29.91.65 | 19024 | A |
The gateway IP addresses, ports and locations (side A/side B), can also be found in chapter 6.1.4 of the document “N7 Network Access Guide”, which can be found on the Eurex website www.eurex.com under the following link:
